Certificates expire. Renewal is where providers count on you not shopping around, because the reminder arrives from the one you already used.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to renew a GVC?
Published renewal prices run £75 to £399. You are not obliged to renew with whoever trained you.
When should I renew?
Before the certificate expires. We send a free reminder three months ahead if you tell us the month yours runs out.
Can I renew with a different provider?
Yes. The certificate is a CAA qualification, not a subscription to the organisation that sold it to you.
Does the 2027 GVC change affect renewals?
An existing GVC stays acceptable until it expires where the Operational Authorisation says so. The detail is here.
